At FC Bayern, a new centre-forward is at the top of the shopping list this summer. The declared preferred candidate for Munich is Harry Kane, but so far Tottenham has not wanted to release his superstar. Ex-national player Mario Basler is increasingly bored with the tough transfer poker.
FC Bayern started its Asia tour on Monday. As is well known, a new goalscorer was not part of the German record champions’ travel entourage, who have had problems in the front line since the departure of Robert Lewandowski.
Mario Basler puts his finger in the wound. “FC Bayern needs a striker. Another season without a real striker is not possible,” said the 54-year-old in his podcast “Basler ballert”.
With veteran Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, you “don’t know what’s going to happen”, and veteran Thomas Müller is also always absent due to “small health problems”.
Basler would therefore have chosen an interim solution. “In an emergency, I would have gotten the striker who has now gone to Leverkusen, Victor Boniface. I gave Bayern that advice too, because he’s a real grenade,” said the 1996 European champion.

However, FC Bayern currently seems to be directing all efforts towards Harry Kane. The captain of the English national team is said to have assured those responsible for the German industry leader that he wanted to go to Munich.
His employer Tottenham, headed by CEO Daniel Levy, has so far stood in the way, and an agreement is not yet in sight. “The topic is slowly getting boring,” Basler commented on the chewing gum poker.
The former midfielder sees FCB in a difficult situation. “If he doesn’t come, Bayern will have a problem up front. But then I’ll say it’s your own fault,” explained Basler.
