If the “Tiger” has its way, the fight for the German championship will be decided on Saturday evening in Leipzig. “Anyone who is on pole position on Sunday evening will also win the title,” predicted Effenberg in his “t-online” column. On Matchday 34, the ex-national player added, “nothing will change” at the top of the table.
The former professional described Bayern’s duel against RB Leipzig as the “key game of the championship”. If Munich defeats the “strongest opponent in the entire league”, nothing will happen in the big season finale either. “But the crucial question is whether they can do it,” Effenberg sees the threesome for his former club as far from being firmly booked.
Effenberg: BVB gets six points from both games
Effenberg is certain that FC Bayern will have to pick up six points from the last two games in order to be back in first place, because: “I’m assuming that BVB will win both games.”
The 54-year-old does not believe that the game plan is a disadvantage for the black and yellow. Dortmund had to play after Bayern on both the 31st and 32nd matchday. And on the 33rd day of the game, Borussia has to step up. Quite a few have therefore already complained about a kind of distortion of competition. But “Effe” doesn’t want to know anything about that.
“The statistics speak against it and actually in favor of BVB: Dortmund has had to play eleven times this season and has won nine games, drawn once and lost only once,” calculated the former professional.
