Manuel Neuer sends Christmas greetings to his own fans. However, he causes astonishment with a somewhat unusual Christmas tree.
Bayern captain Manuel Neuer surprised his fans on Instagram with somewhat unusual Christmas greetings. The goalkeeper of the German record champions posted a photo showing him in an elegant black suit. He wrote in English: “Merry Christmas & happy holidays!”, supplemented by the emojis of a Christmas tree, a gift and Santa Claus. So far, so ordinary.
The special thing about the picture: There is no traditional Christmas tree next to Neuer. Instead, there is an eye-catching metal structure designed in the shape of a tree. The frame tapers to a point, is decorated with three wreaths in different sizes and decorated with a few baubles – a far cry from a classic Christmas tree.
This unusual “tree” didn’t go unnoticed by the fans either. The sight quickly became a topic in the comments. One user asked: “What’s wrong with that tree?” (in German: What’s wrong with the tree?), another commented humorously in Bavarian dialect: “Oida… is your Christmas tree oda wos.” The comments on the tree were liked hundreds of times. However, it remains to be seen whether the construct is Neuer’s only Christmas tree or whether he has set up an ordinary tree elsewhere in his house.
Neuer is also using the Christmas period to recover from an injury. When FC Bayern were eliminated in the DFB Cup round of 16 against Bayern Leverkusen, he suffered a broken rib in an unsuccessful rescue operation. Neuer was shown a red card for the collision with Jeremie Frimpong.
