Munich (dpa) – From the point of view of the long-standing Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, professional football has not learned the necessary lessons from the Corona crisis.

“I’m afraid that if we continue in football in this way, which is almost breathtaking, especially at the top level, football will eventually be presented with the bill,” said Rummenigge in the podcast “Tomorrow – the Business & Style Podcast”.

The 66-year-old referred to the sometimes horrendous salaries and transfer fees that are still being paid. “Football is not ready to draw certain conclusions from these things,” said Rummenigge, referring to the pandemic, which has also hit football hard financially.

In the summer of 2021, after two decades, Rummenigge handed over the chairmanship of the German record champions FC Bayern to Oliver Kahn.
