Bayer Leverkusen longer without new signing Arthur: Injury to Brazil’s U23

Up to 3 months out

Bayer Leverkusen will have to make do without new signing Arthur for the time being. The 20-year-old right-back, who came to the “Werkself” from América-MG in the summer for a fee of 7 million euros, suffered a muscle tendon injury in his right thigh during Brazil’s U23 international match against Morocco last Thursday, according to the Bundesliga league leaders announced on Monday. Leverkusen stated the predicted downtime would be up to three months.

Since his move, Arthur has played three games for Bayer 04, in which he was on the field for a total of 53 minutes. Coach Xabi Alonso, Bayern loanee Josip Stanisic and Timothy Fosu-Mensah are still available at right-back.
