Bayer 04: Seoane praises sales candidates – Besiktas interested in Amiri

Praise for Paulinho, Pohjanpalo & Co.

Bayer Leverkusen coach Gerardo Seoane does not rule out further cooperation with midfielder Nadiem Amiri. The former national player, who was last loaned to Serie A relegated Genoa CFC and has a contract with Leverkusen that runs until 2024, is considered a candidate for sale under the Bayer Cross and has apparently attracted the interest of Besiktas Istanbul.

“Nadiem knows that in the long run he won’t get the playing time he might want with us. If something comes up for him that convinces him, I can imagine that he will do it too. If not, then we’ll keep working,” Bayer’s head coach told the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”. On Wednesday afternoon, the “Kicker” reported on Besiktas’ interest, and a first offer for the right-footed player had also been made. However, this is only in the lower single-digit million range and is therefore still a good deal below the expectations of the “Werkself”, who want to regain approximately the purchase price (came from Hoffenheim for 9 million euros in 2019).

Amiri made an unexpected appearance in the closing stages of the opening game in Dortmund. Seoane was happy with that. “He brought good energy to the pitch. Nadiem missed two weeks at the beginning of the pre-season due to injury, now he has worked extra shifts and trained better and better, he can be used variably in midfield,” said the coach.

The same applies to the other players that the club would give away if the offer were good: Paulinho (22), Dailey Sinkgraven (27) and Joel Pohjanpalo (27). “The players are very committed in training. They play for their future. Nobody can afford to simply end their job somewhere and let themselves go. That no longer exists today. They’re all good guys,” Seoane said. Pohjanpalo was recently brought into play at 1. FC Köln as the successor to Anthony Modeste.
