Basketball players from Phoenix Mercury and Connecticut Sun have been silent for 42 seconds before a game on Thursday because of the prison sentence imposed on American top basketball player Brittney Griner in Russia. Several players from both WNBA teams, the American women’s basketball league, had tears in their eyes. Spectators chanted “bring her back” after the silence ended.
