After two victories in the first two games for the championship, Den Helder Suns lost to Sportiff Grasshoppers tonight. In Katwijk, the home team was clearly too strong: 73-52.
The team of Mario Bennes hardly came in handy against the Katwijkers. After the first quarter, however, the deficit was still small at 19-15. In the second quarter, the women of Sportiff Grasshoppers hit several three-pointers, making the gap much bigger. At halftime it was 45-25.
Den Helder Suns never got over that blow. At the start of the third quarter, the first six points were even for the home team. The gap then widened to 28 points. The last ten minutes were for the North Hollanders, but the damage was already done.
Wednesday is the fourth game in the best-of-five for the title. The game will then be played again in Katwijk. If Sportiff Grasshoppers wins, the deciding game will be in Den Helder on Saturday 14 May.
