Almost exactly a year to the day after moving to the Dallas Mavericks, Anthony Davis is moving on to the NBA.
According to ESPN information, the Texans are giving the ten-time all-star to the Washington Wizards as part of a big deal. Davis only played 29 games for the Mavs in the North American professional basketball league due to major injury problems.
The big man (2.08 m) came to Dallas last year as part of a blockbuster deal, in exchange for fan favorite Luka Doncic going to the Los Angeles Lakers. The trade caused a lot of criticism in Dallas, and the general manager in charge, Nico Harrison, had to leave in November as a late consequence.
Davis, a 2020 champion with the Lakers and a two-time Olympic gold medalist, hasn’t played since Jan. 9 because of a ligament injury in his left hand. With the 32-year-old, Jaden Hardy, D’Angelo Russell and Dante Exum are reportedly going to Washington, Dallas is expected to receive Khris Middleton, AJ Johnson, Malaki Branham, Marvin Bagley III, two first-round and three second-round draft picks.
In 20 appearances this season, Davis averaged 20.1 points and 11.1 rebounds for the Mavericks. The NBA transfer window closes on Thursday.
