The deal is perfect: the Basketball Löwen Braunschweig secure the services of a promising ex-international. It should grow into the leadership role.

The Basketball Löwen Braunschweig made the transfer of Joshua Obiesie perfect. The 25-year-old comes back to the Bundesliga after two years abroad and receives a two-year contract in Braunschweig. This was announced by the basketball players on Monday and spoke of a “strong” and “important” commitment.

In Greece he was in the field eight times in the basketball Champions League.

The five-time German international brings the experience from 111 BBL games. In the 2022/23 season, he played an average of 12.1 points and 3.2 assists at the Fraport Skyliners. After stations in Würzburg and Munich Albiesie also had the opportunity to play at the Houston Rockets in the NBA, but then ran for their farm team in the G-League.

“Joshua suits us humanly and in terms of sport,” said Löwen managing director Nils Mittmann. The aim is to further develop it offensive and defensively and to lead him into a leadership role in the BBL.

Obiesie itself is looking forward to the new task: “It was important years for me abroad. Now I wanted to go back to Germany and I am sure that what I have learned will help me to play a good role here.”
