The hosts’ best thrower was Ousman Krubally, who scored 14 points off the bench and collected seven rebounds. Wesley van Beck contributed 13 points, Aher Uguak had twelve points.
The Niners started like fire engines. After a brief initial exploration, Rodrigo Pastore’s team picked up speed and gave the guests little room to develop. The automatisms took effect both offensively and defensively. The attitude and hustle in the team were right and the Chemnitz team gained a strong lead of 22 points (51:29) by halftime. Den Bosch hardly had a chance to get into their routine offensively, because the Niners repeatedly forced the Dutch to make difficult throws with a mobile defense.
After halftime, the Chemnitz team shifted back into control mode. Den Bosch gratefully accepted the invitation and a lively back and forth developed, especially in the last section. The Niners managed the lead confidently until the final siren and at the same time saved their energy for the tasks ahead.
In the end, the Pastore team achieved their 14th win of the season. The Niners are going into the second round of the Europe Cup with a clean slate. In order to qualify for the quarter-finals, you now need a place in the top two in the group.
