The basketball players of FC Bayern Munich have achieved an important success in the Euroleague against Olimpia Milano.
The Munichers won on Tuesday evening (04.02.2025) with 87:70 (37:36) in their own hall and remain fully in the race for the playoffs with 15 wins in 25 games. If the Bavarians had lost, Milano would have equated after Siegen. The third quarter was decisive, which Gordon Herbert’s team won with 31:19. The guests no longer recovered.
Bavaria kept making it to the free -wing line and sank 21 of 23 attempts – for comparison: the guests only pulled nine free throws. In the three, the Munich team also brought it to a stable quota of 40 percent, 12 out of 30 distances landed in the basket. Captain Vladimir Lucic and world champion Niels Giffey each came to 16 points as the best thrower of the double winner.
Kaunas is clearly subject to offensive weak alba
Alba Berlin has received the next bankruptcy. After a weak offensive performance, the Bundesliga club lost to the Lithuanian top team Zalgiris Kaunas with 53:73 (22:37). Alba remains the bottom of the league. The best throwers were Matt Thomas, Yanni Wetzell and Matteo Spagnolo with ten points each.
Coach Israel Gonzalez was able to use the three-person specialist Thomas, captain Martin Hermannsson, Justin Bean Bean and Gabriele Procida, however, were still missing. And after less than a minute of play there was the next fright, when the most recently so-shaped Will McDowell-White kinked and then limped from the field.
Weak three ratio of Alba
The Australian returned again at the end of the first quarter. Alba was already in the lag (8:19) because the Berliners hardly succeeded offset offensively in the Kaunas cauldron. Out of 13 attempts beyond the three-point line, nobody found their way into the basket in the first half. And the only two free throws were only 44 seconds before the break. Little changed after the change of sides. Only the 17th trial was successful. But since Zalgiris also hit little at first, the deficit hardly grew. At the end of the third quarter, however, the hosts were able to break away – and Alba’s resistance was finally broken.
