The German ladies brought their best EM result with third place in 1997. Last year it was enough for a historically strong seventh place at the Olympic Games. In Paris, however, all top players were still there. The Swedes have never qualified for World Championships or Olympic Games. In 2019, however, it was enough for fifth place in the European Championship.

Sweden made an impressively strong European Championship qualification and won all six games against the group opponents Great Britain, Denmark and Estonia. In the test games, the Scandinavians then went rather mediocre. Similar to the German women, the Swedes have clearly against Belgium (51:70 lost). In the last two tests against Lithuania (45th place in the world rankings) there was a narrow defeat (62:64) and a narrow victory (73:67). Consequently, it is difficult to predict how strong the Swedes really are.
