Science City Jena has been lagging behind Rostock from the start. The Seawolves broke away early and didn’t allow the guests to make any decisive progress. Even an outstanding individual performance cannot avert defeat.
This trip to the Baltic Sea was not worth it for the basketball players from the Thuringian Bundesliga representatives. Head coach Mike Taylor’s team lost 79:89 (33:46) against the Rostock Seawolves, who are in the middle of the fight for the play-in places.
First quarter mortgage too big
Rostock laid the foundation for the home win in the first half. The Seawolves particularly won the start of the game and won the first quarter 23:13. After that it became more even, without Jena being able to put any real pressure on the home team.

The best player on the floor was Joe Wieskamp. The Jena power forward was really hot with 32 points (6/10 three-pointers) and seven rebounds – but it wasn’t enough to win. Despite the defeat, the Jena team are in a good position to stay in the league: with one more game played and two games remaining, the lead over the first relegation spot is six points. The MLP Academics Heidelberg are currently there and will receive the MBC on Monday evening.
