A wet Christmas night on Van Heuven Goedhartlaan in Assen. Around one o’clock last night, the fire brigade received a report of flooding in a house on this street.
The residents heard a strange noise and went to investigate. They discovered that the basement was filling with water. However, the water did not come from their own home, but from the neighbors’ house.
The neighbor’s basement was completely flooded. The house in question is currently not occupied due to renovation work. Because no one was home with the neighbors, the police had to open the door, after which the fire brigade emptied the basement and checked the adjacent houses.
The extent of the damage is not yet known.
