The 30th edition of the Baseball Week Haarlem is about to start. The biennial tournament was canceled in 2020 due to corona. “I expect that the public is really looking forward to it. We see that reflected in the ticket sales. It has been four years since this unique event took place in Haarlem,” says Maud Tromp of the organization.

The tournament starts on Friday at 3:30 PM with a game between Japan and Curaçao. The match between the Netherlands and Italy is scheduled for 7.30 pm. All matches will be played in the Pim Mulier Stadium in Haarlem. “The ticket sales are going very well. I believe that July 9 is already completely sold out,” said Tromp.

No peanut butter sandwiches
Japan won the tournament in 2018 and the Asian country is also participating in this edition. Gerrit Ligtenberg has been involved with the organization for more than 30 years. “They have a Japanese lady who takes care of the food. No peanut butter sandwiches in any case,” Ligtenberg laughs.
The Haarlem Baseball Week is organized from 8 to 15 July. The final is scheduled for next Friday at 7:00 PM.
