Baseball players Amsterdam Pirates start Holland Series with victory

Amsterdam Pirates has gotten off to an excellent start in the Holland Series (the final of the baseball season). The baseball players were far too strong for Neptunus: 1-6. Pirates now leads 1-0 in the best-of-seven series.

Pirates played baseball in the first game in Rotterdam. The visitors took a quick lead through Oliver van der Wijst and Denzel Richardson. Van der Wijst also ensured that Tommy van de Sande could cross home plate in the third inning: 3-0.

Jorrit Penseel and Jason Jakobus made the margin even larger, until Richardson determined the final score with a home run in the ninth inning: 6-1. Neptunus had already returned the favor. The Rotterdammers did not go further than that.

Pirates had to leave the national championship to HCAW last season. Their last title was in 2021.

The second game between Amsterdam Pirates and Neptunus starts on Sunday from 2 p.m.
