Bas Smit and Nicolette bash after photos of Thai cliché trip: ‘Brrr’

Bas Smit and Nicolette van Dam are on holiday in Thailand and everyone should know. However, not all people are charmed by the jolly couple and their cliché journey. “Take Passports!”

Nowadays you see them en masse when you travel: influencers. On Instagram they pretend to have a world time with their intimates, but in reality they spend the whole day working on the perfect picture, with the nice video. Bas Smit is also one of them. He currently walks through Thailand every day with a huge selfie stick to record everything.

Rainbow Bass

Bas and his lover Nicolette van Dam make an incredibly cliché journey through the land of mass tourism, ticking off all the standard attractions and walking in amazement over well-trodden paths. ‘Oh, look, they eat spiders here!!!’, ‘Oh, you’re not allowed to wear shorts in the temple, so I’ll buy a sarong on the spot!’, etcetera, etcetera.

The gimmick van Bas on his first Insta travel day was that he wore a rainbow shirt with rainbow socks. And so when he wanted to buy such a sarong, he accidentally came across a rainbow one. Well, he loved it! Laugh, vultures! In the picture! “Film me!!!!!”

Cracked down

A photo of Bas and his family on which he wears that rainbow sarong – the only one who looks into the camera smiling, how could it be otherwise, Bas – is now being commented on on social media (see below).

The discussion is opened by star tweeter Mies. “The horribly dressed Smit-Van Dam family desecrates a Thai temple. Take away passports,” she writes.

Her tweet has already been viewed about 25,000 times and has gone viral.

‘Just like a circus’

Under that tweet, people go wild on Bas and Nicolette. “Like a circus,” says Mehdi. Lilibeth: “And always all those teeth everywhere, brrrrr.”

Chantalle: “That’s the family fair tent.” And Bregje: “Are they colorblind, tone-deaf and loose singing?”

Ynse sees one big bad taste: “This family thinks they are in Disneyland. They don’t know any better.”

String around wrist

Klojo thinks it’s funny that Bas and Nicolette think they’re really experiencing something special. “Highlight of the day, being blessed by a monk? Every Bangkok goer has had a string tied around his wrist there. Those guys work there in shifts.”

And Ronald: “Oh. Rarely seen a bigger self-righteous brush than His Royal Highness Bas Smit.”
