Bari: Michele Mignani sacked. Now we focus on Pasquale Marino

The last draw (1-1) on Saturday in Reggio Emilia was fatal for the coach. But the fans accuse the company of having invested very little in the market

Michele Mignani leaves the bench. The main candidate to succeed him is Pasquale Marino. Only one victory in the first 9 rounds (with 7 draws) of the championship cost the fifty-year-old coach dearly, who brought Bari back to Serie B and, not even a few months ago, came close to promotion to Serie A with the Apulians. The last, disappointing draw (1-1) obtained last Saturday in Reggio Emilia was fatal. Not so much for the result, but for the lackluster performance, full of fears and poor productivity on the part of the people from Bari. Mignani is essentially blamed for not having found the right fit after the almost total dismantling of the last championship team.

the accusation of the fans

But most of the fans accuse the company of having invested very little in the transfer phase. In the afternoon, Bari sporting director Ciro Polito will communicate the decision to the coach (tied to De Laurentiis’ club by contract until June 2025), who returned from Genoa earlier than expected (the resumption of training is set for tomorrow). Precisely the coincidence with the championship break for the national team’s commitments, taking place at the San Nicola di Bari next Saturday against Malta, would have pushed the club’s leaders to bring forward the decision to dismiss him, which has been in the air for a fortnight. The idea is to allow the new coach to have a couple of weeks to get to know the team. For Mignani’s successor, in addition to Pasquale Marino, Luca D’Angelo was also contacted.
