Barca star before moving to Manchester United

The move from Dutch national soccer player Frenkie de Jong from FC Barcelona to English Premier League club Manchester United is apparently close to completion.

As the news agency “AP” reported, ManUnited is ready to pay a transfer fee of 75 million euros, plus bonus payments of up to another ten million euros. Accordingly, only the approval of the heavily indebted Catalans is missing.

But that should come, because it would make funds available to make the transfer of world footballer Robert Lewandowski from FC Bayern Munich clear.

According to media reports, midfielder de Jong would rather stay in Barcelona. His contract there runs until June 30, 2026. However, coach Xavi Hernández is said to have told de Jong that he will not be an important part of his team.

In Manchester, the 25-year-old would meet his compatriot and coach Erik ten Hag, with whom he worked at Ajax Amsterdam from 2017 to 2019. The change should take place before the Spaniards leave for the USA on Saturday.

De Jong moved from Ajax to Barcelona in 2019 for 75 million euros and has made 140 appearances for Barça so far. In Manchester he is to replace the French world champion Paul Pogba, who has switched to Juventus Turin.
