What do the summer 2025 new grill sausages taste like? The jury of four sat down to taste 15 new sausages.

The grills have been excavated again, which also means the start of the barbecue sausage season. According to Atria’s Grilling -Finland’s largest dining season survey, the sausage has retained its position as a leading grilled raw material, but chicken is also gaining popularity. The grill sausage is eaten about 1.5 kilos per adult, while chicken fillet and piggy are spent about 780 grams per adult. The beef is clearly smaller grilled.

There are a lot of new barbecue sausages on the shelves of the stores for the upcoming grill season. We picked up 15 different novelties for the test.

The test group consisted of four Iltalehti journalists who gave each sausage on a scale of 4 to 10. The final grades consist of the average of these grades.

In the test situation, the sausages were grilled with a charcoal grill. The jury tasted the sausages blind, so they didn’t know what the sausage ate.

Lidl’s Urho’s true flesh, which represents the traditional fleshy barbecue sausage, got Lidl’s Urho. The barbecue sausage made of Finnish pork contains 87 percent meat.

Atria’s Wilhelm Double-W, which is also a traditional and fleshy barbecue sausage with its 91 % meat content, reached almost as high points.

Thirdly, Kivikylä’s new sausage was collected by Juusto-Jalapeno Tuhti, where the jury, as its name suggests, was kicking. The spiciness of the sausage was praised for fit.

Winner: Barbecue Master Urho really fleshy

Meat content: 87 %

Grade: 8.5

– Traditional, basic good. A click of the mouth feel.

– Good for a campfire. Midsummer comes to mind!

– Flexible mouth feel. A sure choice.

– Very fleshy. Traditionally good barbecue sausage.

2th place: Atria Wilhelm Double-W

Meat content: 91 %

Grade: 8+

– Now it’s all the whole sausage! Also quite fleshy mouth feel and nice taste.

– Delicious taste, fleshy. Good balance with spices.

– Big hunger for big hunger.

– Unnecessarily fleshy for your own taste. Reminds of Gotler’s sausage, which Dad visited on a relative trip to buy from the village shop.

3. Place: Kivikylä’s cheese-Jalapeno Tuhti

Meat content: 84 %

Grade: 8

– Spicy and appropriate hotness. A good option with salads and other side dishes. I would take the summer on the barbecue table!

– Chili, chili! Still pretty fresh to be the sausage.

– I can eat one.

– Spicy, strongly jalapeno in the taste. Really good aftertaste.

Shared 4th place: Atria Artesan Bratwurst

Meat content: 81 %

Grade: 8-

– Pleasant, greasy feel. One pepper finally kicks but not too strongly. I could take my own grill. Fleshy.

– Tasty, suitably flavored.

– There is a company in spiciness. Fat sausage, strange texture.

– Pretty soft composition. Not terribly character, a little boring.

Shared 4th place: Wilhelm Chekoni Pekoni-Cheheddar

Meat content: 70 %

Grade: 8-

– Here are things right. A little taste, but not too much company.

– Flour, caramel -like nuance.

– Delicious, smoky sausage. Well seasoned!

– Not quite a basic sausage. Here’s some spice that I can’t catch.

6. Place: Snellman Tuscany

Meat content: 92 %

Grade: 7.5

– More civilized cake. Nothing extra, but not boring. Going to many!

– Delicious flavors, herbal and tasty, but not hot. Nice shapes.

– Narrow. There is only a bark in the mouth. Salty.

– Too herbal.

Divided 7th place: Pouttu campfire barbecue sausage

Meat content: 52 %

Grade: 7+

– Cheap taste. If the taste doesn’t matter, eat this.

– Really basic. Long sausage. Not too much fat. Nice crunching shell.

– Suitably greasy. Great taste. The shell is perfect.

– Muhjukkara. This is probably one of the cheapest sausages.

Shared 7th place: HK Kabanossi Chili-Selle Cheese

Meat content: 68 %

Grade: 7+

– I like it, there is both spice and cheese. I would buy and offer my guests.

– The cheese tastes pretty strong. Loose, good taste.

– This combines the taste of Chili with the taste of the traditional sparkling sausage. Sturdy mouth feel.

– Cheese is swelling. A small piece is more than necessary.

9. Place: HK Country Mexico Hidalgo

Meat content: 82 %

Grade: 7

– There’s a surprising firing, some chili or pepper. Personally, I don’t want a sausage like this.

– Suitably hot, good spices. The taste remains in the mouth for a long time.

– Nice herbs. Strong garlic.

– Suitably burning spicy sausage. Kick!

10th place: Snellman Koskenlasja & Cheddar

Meat content: 77 %

Grade: 7-

– Thick shell, which I like. Tastes greasy, maybe even too.

– Some cheese here? Cheese could have more flavor.

– Suitable size! Thick shell. Fatty aftermath. Only one, thank you.

– Cheese. Pretty tasty, even though I usually don’t buy such a store.

11th place: Atria Artesan French cream-grass chicken sausage

Meat content: 80 %

Grade: 6.5

– Here’s some exciting taste. Nice shapes.

– Tastes strong herbs. I would like more spices.

– This looked good with the first bite. However, the aftertaste too greasy. Herbs included.

– Johan is a vegetable. Taste plus.

12th place: HK Country Inferno

Meat content: 87 %

Grade: 6.5

– Here’s the fire. Looks good, but not nice if you don’t like chili.

– Fiery, tasty. Fits your own barbecue in the summer!

– Really not a hiking sausage. Fiery. Still not bad.

– Too much. Boredom already with a first bite. Don’t mess everything.

Distributed 13th place: Barbecue Master Sulfur Melt Cheese-Chili

Meat content: 65 %

Grade: 6-

– Something red is chopped, but the color doesn’t taste. Fat remains in the mouth. Soft and melting in the mouth.

– Too greasy for your taste. Does not cause vow effect.

– Really watery sausage. Maybe peppers included? No continuation.

– swim in fat. The pig tastes too much.

Shared 13th place: HK Kabanoss Curry

Meat content: 53 %

Grade: 6-

– Currywurst? Somehow the Indian atmosphere here.

– If something exciting to grill you want …. ugly color, neon orange.

– Leaves room for desire.

– Strange. Somehow sheep -like taste. I wouldn’t buy.

15th place: Barbecue Master Cheddar-Jalapeno

Meat content: 72 %

Grade: 5.5

– The test was bad. Pig meat aroma too strong. Terrible fat.

– There is some hot flavor. Extremely soft. At the limits is it good or not.

– Really greasy. Plus a good aftertaste.

– It’s a greasy and bumpy composition. I didn’t figure out where I would eat this.
