Bankplatz by Thomas Müller “a really big exclamation mark”

Thomas Müller has lost his regular place at Bayern Munich. In the Bundesliga duel with Werder Bremen, the international only had to sit on the bench again. Head coach Thomas Tuchel explained his decision. Criticism comes from Lothar Matthäus.

“Basically, it’s all Thomas Müller games, but we have to make decisions. Thomas can always start, can always play for us,” said Tuchel in an interview with “Sky” before the game.

“The very wide positions today with Sadio [Mané] and Kings [Kingsley Coman] I don’t think they are his profile. He could play inside, but we’re more in the half positions today,” said Tuchel, referring to his tactics.

The Munich head coach stressed that he was a fan of Müller. “He’s trained well, of course he doesn’t like it. I know what I have in him and it’s all good,” said Tuchel.

FC Bayern: Matthäus sees “very big exclamation mark”

Record national player Lothar Matthäus criticized. “That’s a really big exclamation point,” said the TV expert on “Sky”: “Müller doesn’t play against Manchester because he might be too slow because it’s not a Müller game. Müller didn’t play against the bottom of the table last week Hertha BSC because somehow it doesn’t fit.”

“Then he’s not playing again today against a team that is secured in midfield. Where can he play at all?” asked the 1990 world champion.

Matthew sees an “aftertaste that is certainly not good”. “He brings organization, experience and passion – Tuchel had recently criticized that a bit about the team. That’s why I’m surprised that he’s not there from the start again,” said the 62-year-old.

Müller had repeatedly not been in Bayern’s starting XI under Tuchel in the past few weeks. The veteran has to fight for his place with the German record champions.
