In the ongoing crisis at Borussia Mönchengladbach, sports director Max Eberl has so far held back. Apparently there are reasons for his disappearance.

As reported by “Bild” and “SID”, Eberl is resigning from his position as sports director at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

According to “Sky”, it is still unclear when Eberl will resign. A separation is therefore conceivable in the next few days, but at the latest at the end of the season.

The 48-year-old has already informed the club bosses of his decision. Part of the team is said to have already been informed on Thursday evening.

“Sport Bild” recently reported that Eberl was a constant topic within the team. His relationship with the team manager Sedrina Schaller, who has since left the club, offered itself as a whispering topic.

Eberl first came to Borussia as a player in January 1999. In October 2008 he took over the post of sporting director and led Gladbach to the Champions League three times.

Eberl was the longest-serving manager in the Bundesliga after Michael Zorc (Borussia Dortmund) and Rudi Völler (Bayer Leverkusen).
