In the future, the ball boys in the Bundesliga will only be a Ballholer and should hardly cause a sensation as a gaming accelerator – if after a recommendation of the German football league, the new season is going for the new season. The DFL recommends the 36 professional clubs the so-called multi-ball concept. The previous ball boys should put the play equipment on marking tiles and no longer throw the professionals.

This was confirmed by the DFL of the German Press Agency. The aim is to “promote fairness in the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga by faster resuming the game and reducing the time game”. However, the implementation of the concept is not mandatory. The instruction of the FIFA World Association continues to have eight ball boys to be placed around the field.

Teenager Noel Urbaniak celebrated after game of Italy

In the Nation’s League game against Italy in March in Dortmund, the quick reaction of the ball boy Noel Urbaniak caused a curious goal of the German national team. The teenager was later celebrated for his campaign: he threw the ball directly to captain Joshua Kimmich (30), who reacted quickly and brought the corner kick into the middle of Jamal Musiala (22). The professional scored the 2-0.

In a similar scene, today’s Hoffenheim Bundesliga professional Umut Tohumcu (21) in 2017, as a assistant on the sidelines, had prepared a TSG goal by Mark Uth (33) against FC Bayern. However, Andrej Kramaric (34), who carried out the throw -in before the goal, later explained that he had “really shouted at the ball boys so that he quickly gave me the ball”.

Marking tiles on the edge of the field

Conversely, however, the assistants who are provided by the host club are delayed, but also actions by the guest team. The at least eight Ballholers would be responsible for a maximum of three balls. As soon as you pick up a ball outside the field, you should immediately put it on a free marking tile. It is strictly forbidden to hold back balls or enter the field.

A total of at least 19 play equipment is used per game: a game ball, and at least 14 other balls on the long sides and four balls behind the goals.
