NH-WEERMAN Jan Visser ‘expected it a bit yesterday’: Zeemist or Zeevlam. Due to temperature differences in the air and the sea there is missing on the beach. Strangely enough, just on warm, sunny days.

“It usually does not extend further than the beach,” our weatherman explains. “If you come behind the dunes, then nothing is wrong. So the people who come to the beach think they get beautiful weather, but are in the fog.”

Wait a few hours

The seafall kept hanging for about two hours today, before it cleared up again. That is normal, according to Fred Dictus. He has been sitting ‘for over half a century’ at the Rescue Brigade of IJmuiden. “You just have to wait a few hours.”

Yet it took too long for some beachgoers. “It is foggy and damp … I think it’s beautiful,” said a grandchildren’s grandfather in a row of people at the beach exit.
