Badminton allows neutral athletes from Russia and Belarus

From February 26, 2024, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) will again allow Russians and Belarusians to participate in international competitions as neutral athletes.

In the coming months, a “procedure to determine the suitability of the athletes” is to be initiated, based on the recommendation of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The decision is in the interests of sport and “a positive step forward in our efforts to promote peace and solidarity,” said BWF President Poul-Erik Höyer. The association again condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine “strongly”.
