The Berlin artist Bad Stream will release his new concept album DOOM ∞ BLOOM in early summer 2023. Already now, on January 9th, the single of the same name has been released as the first release.

On the record, the musician deals with the possible effects of the climate crisis and ongoing technological automation. The project should not only raise questions about “what the world could look like after the catastrophe”, but also try to find answers. In addition to the musical, there is also a visual examination of the topics. For this, Bad Stream worked with the artist Arash Akbari from Tehran.

The artists already developed the idea for DOOM ∞ BLOOM in 2021. They then trained an artificial intelligence for six months, which then illustrated the music composed by Bad Stream. The musician conceived the album for guitar and piano, for the final version he arranged his compositions with the horn player Otto Zart and the violinist Héloïse Lefebvre.

“The project seeks to visually speculate about the future of Earth and analyze how today’s AI can be used as a powerful catalyst as a tool to visualize its ability to act. It explores the properties of a fictional world with and without human destructive activity in an evolving and generative juxtaposition,” said Akbari.

Bad Stream and Akbari show how images and music work together in an audio-visual live show. It will take place on January 20th in the Berghain canteen.

The Berlin musician Martin Steer is behind Bad Stream. DOOM ∞ BLOOM is his third studio album under the pseudonym. In 2018 his debut album BAD STREAM, 2020 SONIC HEALING was released. Steer has also been involved in other projects, including being active with Frittenbude until 2022.
