A few months after his MLS move, Thomas Müller won the championship with the Vancouver Whitecaps. It remains to be seen whether the long-time FC Bayern professional will be fully fit for the big playoff final against Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami on Saturday (8:30 p.m.).
According to “Bild”, Müller has been suffering from the consequences of a tendon injury on the back of his thigh for weeks. Because of the injury, the 36-year-old was unable to play several times recently and had to be substituted early.
It is said that Müller also wants to grit his teeth for the final against Messi and Co. for the Whitecaps. He is currently skipping parts of team training in order to get treatment instead.
If Müller wins the MLS crown in the duel with Miami, the 2014 world champion will receive a bonus of 300,000 euros, according to the tabloid. This corresponds exactly to Müller’s championship bonus at FC Bayern. Overall, it would be the 36th title in the dazzling career of the “Raumdeuter”.
FC Bayern had already congratulated the 36-year-old club legend on reaching the final and expressed its support for the final. Müller said after the 3-1 (3-0) win in the conference final at San Diego FC: “It’s not about accepting any trophy for the Western Conference, but we want to get the really big thing and we’ll prepare for that now.”
For the Whitecaps it would be the first MLS championship in club history.
Thomas Müller’s “Note” helps the Whitecaps
“The Whitecaps’ whole journey this year has taken on really, really good traits even without me,” Müller said in a recent interview RTL/ntv and sport.de accounted for. “But of course, since I joined in August, I’ve added my grade again.”
For Vancouver he made twelve appearances with nine strong goals and four assists.

Regardless of the outcome of the giant duel against Messi, Müller will continue on the Canadian west coast next year.
“I have a contract here until 2026 and will also play here in 2026. I’m looking forward to next season. This trip so far has been more of a short trip from mid-August to the end of November. It was so much fun that I’m really looking forward to the new season,” revealed the Munich native.
