World stars pose in second division jerseys

A world-famous band watching the 2nd Bundesliga? You might get the idea when looking at current pictures of the musicians.
Since Wednesday, a photo has been spreading rapidly on social media, surprising and puzzling fans. You can see it: five international music stars in the jerseys of a second division team.
More precisely: the Backstreet Boys, in the red jerseys of Fortuna Düsseldorf. The American boy band’s unusual choice of clothing is apparently well received by their fans. The post has already collected over 120,000 likes and more than 1,200 comments on Instagram.
The background of the photo is mentioned in the caption. The Backstreet Boys are promoting their concert series “Into the Millennium – Homecoming: Live in Germany”. Fortuna Düsseldorf provides the Merkur Spiel-Arena for this purpose. The band will give a total of nine performances there in autumn 2026.
