The bags were found during work at the Hondsbossche Dunes, reports Marco Snijders, who was working on the beach on behalf of the earthmoving company where he works.

One backpack was located a little higher on the dune, the other behind the dike near the parking lot.

In the wet bags full of sand, Snijders found, among other things, a wallet with business cards of asylum lawyers in France, as well as gloves, magnesium pills, a toothbrush and toothpaste.

Previous research by NH showed that people often take this kind of stuff with them to get through the hour-long crossing from France to England.

Dangerous crossing to England

Tens of thousands try to cross to England every year from France and Belgium, but also the Netherlands.

In our country, 22 people were found this year in a refrigerated trailer of a truck that was going to the United Kingdom. The Royal Military Police also found five people hiding behind in a caravan.

In Belgium and France, this often involves a dangerous method of human smuggling in small rubber boats. Men, women and children are also killed.

Criminal networks make a lot of money from it: according to Europol, migrants pay between 1,000 and 2,000 euros to human smugglers. There are still last week 21 people arrested in Europeincluding four leaders in Germany.
