Backlog of asylum files is rising sharply: 25,000 people are waiting for a decision

The backlog at the Commissioner General for Refugees and Stateless Persons (CGRS), which assesses whether asylum seekers are entitled to stay in our country, increased sharply again in March. That writes De Tijd on Saturday. In total, 21,237 files, representing 25,012 people, are still waiting for a decision. This figure is higher than during the asylum crisis in 2016.
