Baby news! MAFS couple from Zoetermeer welcomes a ‘sweet’ daughter

Family expansion for the Van Embden-Eckhardt family. Rowan Eckhardt and Astleigh van Embden, known from the television program Married at First Sight, have become mom and dad to daughter Marley Jane. The girl was born on Saturday, January 18 in the HagaZiekenhuis Zoetermeer.

Shortly after birth, hospital staff spoiled Rowan and Astleigh with tea and rusk with mice. The little girl received a stuffed animal and a romper with the text ‘I’m so sweet’.

Silent protest in front of the hospital

It is quite special that Rowan was allowed to give birth in the HagaZiekenhuis, because about a year ago the acute maternity care department in Zoetermeer was in danger of disappearing. During a silent protest the couple walked to the hospital together with hundreds of other Zoetermeer residents in a parade with lights. They did this to let them know that this department is very important for pregnant women in Zoetermeer. Ultimately, Haga’s Board of Directors decided not to close.

A whole house full

Since the beginning of 2022, Rowan and Astleigh have been living together in the Oude Dorp in Zoetermeer, while at the same time the seventh season of MAFS just started on television. The newly married couple told indebuurt that they had to go undercover to the Hoogvliet wearing face masks and sunglasses. They have lived in their house from the start with two cats, a rabbit and koi carps Fanta and Spruit. With their daughter Marley Jane, they can almost participate in the television program Een Heel Huis Vol.
