AZ overwinters in Europe after a win over FC Vaduz

After a 1-2 win over FC Vaduz, AZ is sure of its winter in the Conference League. In a disappointing match, Milos Kerkez and Myron van Brederode managed to find the net for the Alkmaarders.

In the first half there was little to nothing to do. AZ had possession of the ball, but it was the home team that became the most dangerous. The North Hollanders created little in the first half. A long shot from Jens Odgaard in the 45th minute was AZ’s most dangerous moment in the first half.

lightning start

The second half started excellently for the North Hollanders. On a pass from Tijani Reijnders, it was Milos Kerkez who managed to score a fine goal. The second half was much livelier than the first. The game swung back and forth. The team from Liechtenstein also had opportunities. Keeper Hobie Verhulst prevented the equalizer with a fantastic save on a bet by Ryan Fosso.

Substitute Myron van Brederode was less than a minute in the field when he scored 0-2 in the 75th minute. AZ could not enjoy that score for long, because one minute later it was Nicolas Hasler who made the 1-2. He shot in cold-blooded after a mistake by Riechedly Bazoer.

In the final phase, both teams had some chances, but no more goals were scored in Liechtenstein. This makes AZ certain of European football after the winter break. Later in the evening, SK-Dnipro -1 will play against Apollon Limassol in group E of the Conference League.

Line-up AZ: Verhulst; Kerkez, Dekker, Beukema, Hatzidiakos; Clasie, D. De Wit, Reijnders (Bazoer/60); Karlsson (Van Brederode/7, Odgaard, Sugawara.
