AZ loses Swedish star Jesper Karlsson to Bologna

It has been in the air for a while, but Jesper Karlsson is leaving AZ and will definitely continue his career at Bologna FC. It is unclear exactly how much the Italian club pays, but an amount of around eleven million euros is being circulated in the corridors. Karlsson played three seasons in Alkmaar.

Jesper Karlsson came over from the Swedish Elfsborg IF in the summer of 2020. In the end, the left winger came to 124 official duels, in which he scored 46 times and provided 33 assists.

“I’ve had three very good years at AZ,” says Karlsson on the site of the Alkmaar club. “I am looking forward to a new challenge, where I will continue to develop in Italy and I will continue to follow AZ in the future. This club will always be special to me.”

The AZ digital platform also contains words of praise from Max Huiberts. “It is a player you come to the stadium for. With his specific qualities he makes every team better. We will undoubtedly hear a lot from Jesper from the international fields.” Earlier this summer, technical director Sam Beukema also sold to Bologna.

After Sam Beukema, Milos Kerkez, Tijjani Reijnders, Karlsson is the fourth important force to leave AZ. Probably Pantelis Hatzidiakos is next. The Greek defender is about to leave for Cagliari, Italy. But first, Hatzidiakos will play in the diptych against SK Brann in the Conference League play-offs.
