AZ eliminated the Armenian FC Noah last night. The 4-0 win was more than enough to wipe out the ignominious 1-0 away defeat.

The next opponent, Sparta Prague, did not take action. Due to the high final ranking in the competition phase of the Conference League, they were allowed to skip the intermediate round. The Czechs finished in fourth place with 13 points. AZ scored 10 points in the previous six league matches and finished fourteenth.
Sparta Prague is trained by Brian Priske, who was fired from Feyenoord last year. The Dane became champion twice between 2022 and 2024 and won the cup. In the current competition, Sparta is second behind city rivals Slavia Prague with a deficit of 7 points.
