AZ announced on Tuesday afternoon during the New Year’s reception in Alkmaar that the club has verbally agreed with trainer Pascal Jansen about a contract extension until mid-2025.
Jansen has been at the helm of the Alkmaar premier divisionist since December 5, 2020. He played as a football player in the youth of Ajax, AZ, HFC Haarlem and Telstar, among others. Due to an injury, he had to retire early from football.
In 2018 he started working as a youth coach at AZ. After Arne Slot was fired as head coach in early December 2020, Jansen moved on to that position.
AZ will resume the competition next Saturday with a home game against Vitesse.
More later.
