Axl Rose and Carrie Underwood play Guns N’ Roses classics

In recent years, the “Coachella Festival” has become the epitome of unforeseen guest appearances. But other stages are also used by musicians to amaze their audience. On Saturday (April 30) there was a spectacular surprise performance at the “Stagecoach Festival”, also in California: The American country singer Carrie Underwood performed there with none other than Axl Rose. “Welcome to the biggest night of my life,” the “American Idol” winner called out to her audience, adding, “Applause for Axl Rose!”

Dreams come true

For Underwood, a dream that has been cherished since childhood has probably come true: the 39-year-old is a long-time Guns N’ Roses fan. Incidentally, during the festival gig, the two did not perform any songs – but with “Sweet Child O’ Mine” and “Paradise City” the biggest hits of the hard rock band. Both tracks can be found on their 1987 album “Appetite For Destruction”. To date, the group’s full-length debut has sold over 30 million copies worldwide.

From fangirl to best friend

Underwood’s love for Guns N’ Roses has been known for some time: During an appearance on “The Tonight Show” in 2020, she admitted to abandoning her family for a concert by the band featuring Axl Rose and Slash after an extensive tour “It was kind of a lifetime dream of mine that I never thought would come true,” she said of the GNR reunion at the time. After the show, Underwood met Rose backstage. “It’s hard to meet his heroes because I look at him as someone who taught me to sing,” says the musician, and continues: “But he was super cool and great and nice and we talked.” Today be the two best friends.
