Austria in front of Switzerland and Austria behind again: This is the podium at the New Year’s competition in Garmisch. The German athletes followed at a considerable distance.
The Austrian ski jumpers still have the 2024/25 Four Hills Tournament firmly under control. At the second stop of the competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, the traditional New Year’s competition, Daniel Tschofenig won ahead of the Swiss Gregor Deschwanden and Michael Hayböck, who set a hill record with 145.0 m.
Karl Geiger (Oberstdorf) was the best German in sixth place. Tour co-favorite and World Cup leader Pius Paschke (Kiefersfelden) came in ninth place after jumps of 129 and 143.5 meters. This reduces the chances of the jumpers from the German Ski Association (DSV) of overall victory.
Even at the first competitions on December 28th and 29th, 2024 in Oberstdorf, Paschke in fourth place and Geiger in eighth place were well behind the Austrians around opening winner Stefan Kraft.
