Felix Hacker has just returned from a torn cruciate ligament. Now the Austrian has to take a break again.

The Austrian ski racer Felix Hacker has again seriously injured his knee. The 25-year-old tore a meniscus in his left knee during the first training session in Val Gardena (Italy) on Tuesday and is out indefinitely. He is being operated on in Graz.

Hacker only returned to the slopes on December 10th after a 322-day break due to a torn cruciate ligament. Immediately on his comeback, he won the European Cup Super-G in Santa Caterina. Now another break.

In Val Gardena on Tuesday, Hacker made a hard landing after a jump, but still finished the run. The Austrian Stefan Eichberger had recently torn his cruciate ligament in the same place. “After landing, I immediately had a bad feeling in my knee,” said Hacker. “At first I thought it wasn’t that bad, so I drove to the finish. The diagnosis is of course extremely bitter.”

After the pain got worse the next day, he underwent an MRI scan. The meniscus tear was discovered. It is unclear how long Hacker will be out of service.
