“There is only one way to name it, and that is terrorism,” said Minns. It is not clear how many people have been arrested. Around a hundred police officers investigate the incident, in the context of an anti-terrorism operation in which both the state and federal police are involved.

Gaza War

Australia has been struggling with anti -Semitic incidents for several months. Since the start of the war in Gaza in October 2023, there are various synagogues, buildings and cars the target of anti -Semitic attacks. Recently a daycare center around the corner of a synagogue and an orthodox Jewish school was set on fire and daubed with anti-Semitic slogans. At the beginning of December a synagogue was also set on fire in Melbourne.

Local authorities indicate those events such as terrorism. Due to the increase in Islamophobic and anti -Semitic threat, a special police team has been appointed. In the meantime, since last year, more than one hundred and eighty suspects have been arrested. Research shows That both Jews and Muslims have increasingly confronted with anti -Semitism and racism since 7 October 2023.
