PARIS (dpa-AFX) – The operator of the French electricity grid, RTE, wants to prevent supply interruptions this winter by appealing to households and industry to save money. When the network is heavily loaded, power consumption needs to be reduced by 1 to 5 percent and by 15 percent in extreme weather conditions, RTE announced on Wednesday. Normally, only a few situations are expected during the winter in which there will be a call to reduce consumption. Extreme situations are less likely.

Risky situations in the power supply threatened during the week between 8:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. All-day problems or weekend difficulties are not expected. In no case is there a risk of a blackout in France with a complete loss of control over the power supply. RTE have ways to react to fluctuations./evs/DP/ngu
