Attention! NS is going to strike and Zoetermeer notices this

It had been coming for a while, but it is now certain: the employees of NS will go on strike. And that is probably also a problem for Zoetermeer train passengers.

The strike is spread over several regions of the country. Zoetermeer is part of the West region. This means that no or fewer trains will run on August 26. It is still unclear whether any trains will be running or whether some trains will be canceled.

Strike of NS

The employees participate in a so-called relay strike. That means a 24-hour strike per region. The strike dates are:

  • August 24 in the North region.
  • August 26 in the west region.
  • August 29 in the northwest region.
  • August 30 in the middle region.
  • August 31 in East and South regions.

From Zoetermeer to another region

But what if you travel from Zoetermeer to Amsterdam, for example? Does the train stop half way or does the train not run at all? “That is not entirely clear yet,” explains a spokesperson for FNV. “We are still in talks with all parties and will let travelers know in time.” In short: we still don’t know a lot. But you can at least take into account that traveling by train from Zoetermeer on August 26 will probably be difficult.
