Australian Nick Kyrgios won the tennis tournament in Washington (USA) and was successful at an ATP tournament for the first time since 2019.
Kyrgios defeated the Japanese qualifier Yoshihito Nishioka after two sets 6:4, 6:3. Kyrgios was also successful in doubles in Washington together with the American Jack Sock.
Kyrgios was in the final of this year’s Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament and was beaten by Novak Djokovic. The 63rd in the world rankings has repeatedly been noticed for his undisciplined behavior on the pitch: At this year’s tournament in Miami, the Australian was fined $35,000 after insulting the chair umpire and smashing his racket.
