Tennis star Alexander Zverev missed the final at the ATP Masters in Toronto.
The Hamburg, on number one, lost 3: 6, 6: 4 and 6: 7 (4: 7) after almost three hours against the Russian Karen Chatschafts. Zverev awarded a match ball in the third set and thus missed the opportunity for his second tournament victory of the year.
“I missed a few balls that I would have liked. But that’s how it is. In general, I didn’t feel the ball so well. But that’s okay, we’ll go on. I have another chance in a few days in Cincinnati”said Zverev, who made too many slight mistakes against Chasthanow (44).
For the Russian, which was set to number eleven, it was the third win in the eighth game against Zverev, who won the Paris Olympic final, among other things. In the final, Chadhanow meets Ben Shelton (USA), who defeated his compatriot Taylor Fritz (6: 4, 6: 3).
Next tournament in Cincinnati
For Zverev, the ATP tournament in Cincinnati will continue to prepare for the US Open in New York (from August 24).
