The blue tennis player gives himself one of the most important victories of his career: 6-3 6-4 at the former number one in the world. At the next match Matteo will face Dzumhur
Matteo Arnaldi signs the company in Madrid. In the same tournament in which two years ago he defeated a top 5 for the first, in the first round against Casper Ruud (then number four in the world), the blue repeats itself again. In this edition, the victory is even tastier. In the second round, he beats the twenty -four Slam champion Novak Djokovic. Two sets, a 6-3 6-4 in an hour and 41 minutes of the game that gives the blue the most important victory of his career. For Nole, the coveted one to the number 100 title continues, while for Arnaldi the thought is on the third round: here will await the Bosnian Damir Dzumhur, who defeated Sebastian Baez.
The first set
–
There is no constancy in the game of Novak Djokovic: on the hunt for his first red earth victory from the final of the Paris Olympics, he alternates more and more frequently winning shots and errors. With the latter (they will count 20 at the end of the set) the Serbian match begins and Arnaldi, without exaggerating but relying on his stroke and defense tennis, tears the service immediately. The former number one, however, not without difficulty reassembles from 0-2 to 2-2. The precarious balance, with blue always clinging to the mistakes of his opponent, ends on 4-3. Nole invents a magic with the closet, but collapses immediately after with two double fouls and gives the break. Matteo, called to serve, does not miss and conquers the first partial 6-3.
The second set
–
The second part is a show. Nole raises the level, Matteo replies. It starts from 3-2, where the former number one in the world goes on 30-0 on the Arnaldi service. Matteo recovers, goes on 30-30, becomes unfortunate protagonist of the point of the match, but does not give up and closes the point. The turning point comes in the next game. Djokovic goes on 30-30, but collects another mistake, one of the 32 of the entire match and gives Break ball to Arnaldi. Matteo uses it, but suffering is not over. He goes below 0-40, offers three break balls, cancels them and flies to rhythms that the rent’s body seems to no longer be able to support. Arnaldi, on the other hand, has the strength to exult, but the emotion of this victory does not give him great gestures: just the “OMG” written on the camera to describe a dream success.
