Yesterday’s results: Sinner well, Musetti a little tired

At ATP Finals 2025 in Turin, yesterday gave mixed emotions for Italian tennis. Both Italians on the scoreboard took to the field, Jannik Sinner And Lorenzo Musettiprotagonists of their respective debuts in the groups.

Sinner began his run with a solid and convincing performance, overtaking Félix Auger-Aliassime in two sets. After a hard-fought first partialin which the Canadian managed to withstand the rallies from the baseline, the South Tyrolean raised the level of his game, dominating the second set thanks to impeccable service and great clarity in key moments. A muscular problem in the calf affected Auger-Aliassime but Sinner’s merit was that he did not concede anything and closed the match with authority. The blue thus moves to the top of the group.

Lorenzo Musetti’s debut was more bitterdefeated by Taylor Fritz in two sets. The American imposed his power and greater habit of playing on fast surfaces, forcing the Tuscan to chase throughout the match. Taking over at the last minute after Novak Djokovic’s retirement, Musetti still showed good tennis and some classy shots, especially in the initial phase of the match, but, as time passes, the balance has broken in Fritz’s favor.

This evening Musetti will have the chance to make up for it against Alex De Minaur, a match that will be broadcast live on Rai 2 not before 8.30pm
