The run-up to the match AZ against the Scottish Dundee United started so pleasantly, but a little before seven o’clock tonight the flames went up at the Waagplein in Alkmaar. To get the situation under control, the police had to arrest five people.
The police spokesperson could not say which supporters this concerns. Two groups came to face each other on the Waagplein and the police had to intervene. The police formed a line and deployed police dogs.
The five people have been arrested for disturbing public order and not following the orders of the police. “These five did not comply with our orders,” the spokesperson explains. “So they have to miss the game now.”

It started pleasantly this afternoon in the cheese city. NH Nieuws gauged the atmosphere on the square this afternoon, and then there seemed to be nothing in the air. “It must be very strange if the flame shoots up there,” cafe owner Ronald Rooker told our reporter.
According to the police, calm has now returned to the square. The Scottish team loses the match 7-0. “We remain vigilant,” the spokesperson concluded.
