Atlantic Wall Raversyde receives European Heritage Award

The Aachen Battery won in the ‘Conservation and redevelopment’ category. The bronze plaque was officially handed over to Atlantic Wall Raversyde on Friday.

The battery is the only German coastal battery from World War I of which enough remains to be able to understand the structure. During the Second World War, Aachen Battery was reused as part of the Atlantic Wall.

In addition, the Aachen Battery also has a chance to win the audience award. It will be presented at an official ceremony in Prague on September 26. To vote is still possible until September 11th.
