The Atlanta Dream have developed a small advantage in the exciting duel with the Las Vegas Aces around the place behind leaders Minnesota Lynx. The team of Coach Karl Smesko clearly won the Connecticut Sun.

Despite the 88:72 in Uncasville, however, the Dream must hope for protecting help if it is in the end. Atlanta has lost the direct comparison with the Aces.

If Las Vegas wins at the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday, secure the home advantage in a possible two-round duel with the Dream.

WNBA: What’s next in Connecticut?

The best scorer for Atlanta were routiner Brittney Griner, who took up 17 points from the bank and Rhyne Howard. The three-time all-star player got 15 points, sank 3 threes and became a total ninth player in WNBA history, who was able to sink at least 100 triples in one season. Brionna Jones, Allisha Gray and Nia Coffey also met double digits.

In contrast, the hosts received the 33rd bankruptcy in the 44th game. The best thrower was Marina Mabrey with 22 points. Saniya Rivers set up a SUN rookie record with 43 threes this season. Tina Charles scored 9 points and thus exceeded the 700-point mark in one season for the first time in her 14-year career.

The Sun also faces an uncertain future. The Mohegan Tribe as the current owner of the team is aiming for a sale of the franchise. There are some interested parties, but the league only wants to wave the sale towards one of its designated expansion cities.

Most recently, even Senator Richard Blumenthal had switched on and threatened with legal consequences, the league should promote the team from the state.
