Armand Duplantis is again close to six meters in Xiamen. However, the star of the meeting was a Norwegian who achieved a world record.

At the start of this year’s Diamond League, Armand Duplantis underlined his role as favorite. The Swede took the lead in the Chinese Xiamen on Saturday with skipped 5.92 meters. However, the Olympic champion remained under the six-meter mark. The Greek Emmanouil Karalis and the Dutchman Menno Vloon shared second place, each with 5.82 meters.

Duplantis had increased his own world record to 6.27 meters in the French Clermont-Ferrand in France. In xiamen he missed the height of 6.01 meters this time in all three attempts.

Another highlight brought Karsten Warholm. The Norwegian hurdle runner set up a new world record over the 300 meter hurdles. Warholm mastered the non-Olympic route in 33.05 seconds and thus improved its own record from 2021 by 21 hundredths. The Brazilian Matheus Lima followed in 33.98 seconds. Third finished Ken Toyoda from Japan in 34.22 seconds.

This year’s Diamond League comprises 15 stations. The overall winners in 32 disciplines will be determined on August 27th and 28th in Zurich. A total of $ 9.24 million is distributed in prize money-more than ever before. The next stop in the series is Shanghai on May 3.
